Description
The context driven community views software testing as a cognitively complex activity that requires critical thinking, effective communication, and rapid self-directed learning. When we get together we do so to discuss, learn, and challenge each other to advance the practice of software testing.
Most people see there is a need for testing, though not everyone understands the skills required and why advancing those is important. Many of you have probably experienced unskilled testing which often provides very little value to the stakeholders. Badly informed decisions, increase in cost, increase in lead time to deliver to production, and poor software quality are examples of consequences of unskilled testing.
To overcome the problem of unskilled testing we need a rapid change on a broader level. To reach a larger audience, we require advocates from other communities and collaboration with other disciplines in software development.
This year, AST is reaching outside of the testing community to connect and bridge with developers, product owners, project managers, agile coaches, devops, and anyone who benefits from the value skilled testing provides. We would like to hear stories of how collaborating with other disciplines and communities have made a difference in acknowledging the value of skilled testing. We wish to see highly interactive workshops. Most of all, we wish to see a diversity of subjects, speakers, and audience.
