Since the AST has started to sponsor other conferences and events, a couple of members had questions as to how this all works and how we distinguish between the different activities. As for now, we have three different ways where money flows in some capacity, according to our mission. Here is how we distinguish between them:
Grants
Purpose: Support community initiatives
Structure: Maximum 1000 USD per event, max 2 events per year per organizer
Approval: Grant Committee
Policy: July, 2007, Guidelines for Supporting Projects or Initiatives of Value to Software Testers
Others Sponsor AST Events
Purpose: Support the AST financially with their events
Structure: No maximum amount, sponsors need to be in line with AST’s mission, purpose, objectives and Code of Ethics
Approval: Executive Committee
Policy: August 2013, Sponsorship
The AST Sponsors Other Events
Purpose: Marketing for the AST
Structure: No Maximum Amount
Approval: Executive Committee
Policy: No policy, at the discretion and judgement of the executive committee
